緣起 Where it began

在創作的探索中，這些問題一直縈繞在蔡雯慧心裡：
一個歌手還能在音樂裡面做什麼事呢？
歌手一定是舞台上聚光燈的焦點嗎？
有沒有可能歌手跟樂手之間的關係能夠再緊密一點？
Vestige是蔡雯慧探究這個問題的答案。
將歌手與管樂手放在同一個平面上，有時歌手是負責主導旋律的人，有時後退一步擔任伴奏的角色，跟管樂一起製造和聲、一起營造音樂的畫面。
在音樂裡面，我們可以彼此幫襯、相互輝映，這是蔡雯慧內心理想的音樂型態。


In her creative exploration, Wen-Hui Tsai has long asked:
What else can a vocalist do in music? Must the singer always be the spotlight on stage? Can the relationship between singer and instrumentalists be closer?

Vestige is her answer. By placing voice and horns on equal ground, sometimes leading the melody, sometimes stepping back to accompany, they create harmonies and musical textures together. In music, they support and reflect each other—Ｗen-Hui's vision of an ideal ensemble.
